Interview with Damien Searle |
 The most famous UK Beach Volleyball Personality.
He was born in Australia but lives in the UK and also his parents are British so the decision was simple, represent UK on the international beach volley stage.
After many years in the sport as a player, tournament organiser, coach, set up crew member, and commentator, Damien has focussed on his refereeing. Having refereed 15 World Tour Events since qualifying as an international referee in 2003, Damien was selected as 1 of only 16 referees for the Beijing 2008 Olympic games - Britain's only referee or player in the Beach Volleyball

Q: What do you wish you had invented?
A: Umm.. I'd like to say something that would have made me heaps of money, or something that's cool, like post-it-notes...but I'm gonna have to say...I wish I'd invented my own sport. How cool would that be, seeing millions of people around the world having fun playing a sport you invented.
Q: What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
A: In my volleyball career, refereeing at the Olympics is pretty had to beat. But before I got into refereeing I played at a decent level, so winning my first tournament was pretty special...especially as it was against the best players in Queensland at the time.
