Inspire! Motivate! Achieve!

Coaching is a great way to share your beach volleyball expertise with others!

Improve your own skills as beach volleyball player, and become a valuable mentor to others.

London Beach Volleyball Club is looking for experienced and developing coaches to join our coaching team. Our Club caters for all levels from novice to elite, through community events and targeted training sessions.

LBVC Coaching Team

 

Head Coach: Danny Wol

Danny is a qualified Level II (EVA) coach with over 14 years coaching experience, which has included both indoor and beach volleyball. He has coached players at all levels from beginners and intermediates right up to International players. He has knowledge and a keen interest in all aspects coaching: Technical; Tactical; Physical Conditioning; Sports Psychology.

On the beach Danny has played in the top level of the domestic tour for over 14 years. Over the years he has won or finished runner-up in dozens of Mens AAA domestic tournaments, highlights include winning including the British Open, Weymouth and the Covent Garden Invitational. He was the overall winner of the Beach Grand Prix Tour (now the VEBT Champions Race) in 2001.

Indoors, Danny was an English National team player for 10 Years winning over 50 caps. As a National team Player Danny was able to attend many of the British Olympic Association workshops by experts from various fields - Sports psychologists, nutritionists, physiologists etc.

Domestically, Danny played in the highest English division indoors for 15 Years.  He was Player of the Year three times in the top division of the National League. Danny captained the Aquila team for 8 years, including the year they won the League and Cup double.

 

 

LBVC Coaching Bursary 

A Coaching Bursary is available through LBVC, with funding given specifically for costs associated with coach development. In 2010, the bursary will pay up to £200.

Applicant Requirements:

  • You are a registered member of London Beach Volleyball Club
  • You are an experienced beach volleyball player, or have relevant previous experience as a coach in another sport.
  • You have demonstrated an active involvement in London Beach Volleyball Club activities.
  • You are prepared and able to provide up to 20 hours community or Club coaching as agreed with LBVC prior to accepting the bursary. This will be in line with Club goals, and is linked to the amount of funding provided.
  • You are registered as a volunteer through Volleyball England.
  • You are CRB checked (or have applied and are waiting for your CRB check) through Volleyball England.
  • You have a current First Aid Certificate (can be completed following application)

LBVC Advanced Beach Volleyball Clinic

Following its spectacular success in recent years, the Advanced Beach Volleyball Clinic by London Beach Volleyball Club is back! 

This clinic is for athletes that are serious about the sport of beach volleyball, and who already have experience as a player or coach.

Problem Solving
-    Designing drills to help beach volleyball athletes help themselves.
-    Telling won’t work as well as showing, which won’t work as well as doing.


Tactics
-    Understanding high and low percentage plays and when to use them.
-    Beach specific techniques are different to indoor.


Building Psychological Strength
-    How to integrate this in to a beach volleyball training session.
-    Stress drills build character that is required in tournaments

There are 2 Clinics planned for 2010:

Saturday 27th March. Register here by Thursday 25th March.
